The Eagles could use more speed and big-play ability in the backfield

The Eagles moved up seven spots in the fourth round to select another offensive playmaker on Saturday, drafting San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey with the 132nd-overall pick.

A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, McCoy grew up rooting for the Eagles. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he rushed for 2,816 yards and 35 touchdowns in two seasons. After foregoing his final two seasons of college eligibility, he was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Once in the pros, he quickly established himself as one of the best running backs in the league, rushing for a franchise-record 6,792 yards and 44 touchdowns in six seasons.

The game tape backs up the numbers. Mack shows lateral explosion and long speed. He has good vision, which is critical for a running back. All the physical talent in the world doesn’t help you if you can’t find the hole. He has excellent burst. Mack is elusive, with the ability to make defenders miss in traffic or out in space. He isn’t a power runner, but will go through some arm tackles. The downside with Mack is that he loves big plays and will run himself into some losses because of that. LeSean McCoy did the same thing when he was an Eagle. When Mack stays north-south, he is a very good runner.

The Eagles could use more speed and big-play ability in the backfield. The 5-11, 213-pound Mack would provide both. The Eagles were able to move the chains in 2016. Now, they want to add chunk plays. Mack had runs of 49, 52, 56, 60, 65, and 85 yards last year. The Eagles would love to put a weapon like that on the field beside Wentz every week.

LeSean McCoy vividly remembers the cheers from the Philadelphia faithful, he remembers the tight-knit bond he established with his teammates and he remembers with pride the success he had during his six years as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Nike Eagles #43 Darren Sproles Midnight Green Team Color Youth Stitched NFL New Elite Jersey

A lot was made heading into this week’s meeting between the Eagles and Bills about the return of running back LeSean McCoy to Philadelphia. A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, McCoy grew up rooting for the Eagles, and after two stellar seasons at the University of Pittsburgh he was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2009 Draft. Once in the pros, he quickly established himself as one of the best running backs in the league, rushing for a franchise-record 6,792 yards and 44 touchdowns in six seasons.

McCoy expects a mixed response when he returns to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, but he’s looking to put the past behind him and focus solely on the task at hand. He says it’s a big game for him, but not because of any of the perceived theater surrounding the contest. His Bills (6-6) are currently one game out of an AFC Wild Card spot, and the Eagles (5-7) are currently tied for the division lead in the NFC East with four games left to play.

To move up, the Eagles traded picks 139 (fourth round) and 230 (seventh round) to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Eagles satisfied some very important need positions in last weekend’s draft, including defensive end and cornerback, and they may or may not have done the same with the fourth-round selection of Pumphrey, the record-setting running back from San Diego State whose incredible production, 6,405 rushing yards, belies his 5-9, 180-pound (dripping wet) frame.

Running back didn’t get addressed as expected. The Eagles didn’t add a star runner to come in and fight for the starting job. They drafted Donnel Pumphrey in the fourth round. Pumphrey is a talented runner, but he is also a weapon as a receiver. He can be devastating on screens, with his ability to Philadelphia Eagles jersey authentic hide behind blockers and then make quick cuts in the open field. Pumphrey can also line up in the slot and get open like a receiver would. Beyond that, the play is just starting when he gets the ball in his hands. His 4.48 speed makes him a challenge for defensive backs and just kills linebackers.

Alright, so this isn’t the traditional ‘running back vs linebacker’ or ‘running back vs safety’ matchup that I typically save for this piece, but you should know about the two running backs facing off in this Mountain West Conference Title Game. San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey is downright tiny at 5’8, 170 pounds, but he plays with a real edge out of the backfield as both a runner and a receiver. Pumphrey has good vision, is willing to work in between the tackles, and has consistently stepped up his game against the best teams on the schedule throughout his career. That being said, Pumphrey’s been in a bit of a slump lately, failing to reach 100 yards rushing in consecutive games for the first time since September of 2015, a streak that started when the Aztecs faced Wyoming a couple of weeks ago in a last-second loss.

Wentz was joined by quarterback Deshaun Watson, who guided the Clemson Tigers to the National Championship in January and is a potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The two appeared on behalf of JCPenney, as the store fitted the young men for suits of their own and provided gift cards.

It was a fun afternoon, and as always I learned a lot from Quick, and we started the session with a look at Williams against Pittsburgh, Clemson’s lone loss of the season. In a high-scoring game, Williams had a career day, catching 15 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. There were a lot of opportunities for us to evaluate Williams with the ball going his way, but it only took one snap, where he wasn’t even targeted, for him to draw praise from the Eagles Hall of Famer.

“See this release? This is the first play and I like him already,” Quick said. It was first-and-10, and quarterback Deshaun Watson goes to the other side of the field with this ball, but Williams is lined up on the left facing a press corner. He runs a fade and is able to get on top of the corner efficiently.

“There’s no wasted motion. He’s not bailing to the outside. He’s going right at the corner’s shoulder. He’s not wasting any time getting upfield, I like that,” Quick continued. “If this play comes to him he’s in great position just off the ball to go up and make a play.” It was Williams’ release that caught Quick’s eye again just four plays later.

This is a quarterback class riddled with question marks. Mitch Trubisky has only started 13 games. DeShone Kizer didn’t win enough. Patrick Mahomes struggles to play within structure. Nate Peterman doesn’t have tools that blow you away. Watson’s play was a bit uneven this year and, like Peterman, there’s nothing physically about his skill set that will wow you. I believe he has the potential to be a starting quarterback in the NFL down the line because of what he brings on and off the field.

Alabama’s success in the semifinal game against Michigan State centered on making that team one-dimensional. Running back Larry Scott, the hero of the Big Ten Championship Game for Michigan State, was held to just 8 yards on the ground, as the Spartans averaged just 1.1 yards per carry on the day. This Clemson attack, however, is completely different than what the Tide saw against Michigan State, and a lot of that has to do with the Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson.

The true sophomore quarterback ran for over 1,000 yards this year, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. The Tigers, much like the Ohio State team that beat Alabama a year ago in the playoffs, have an offense focused on speed, tempo and deception. The zone-read element will be a huge factor in this game, and whether it’s Watson carrying the ball or running back Wayne Gallman, or any of the receivers that you’ll see used on jet-sweep action throughout the night, the Alabama front seven’s eye discipline will be put to the test.

The No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Barnett set a new school record at Tennessee with 33 career sacks, surpassing the previous record of 32 set by Pro Football Hall of Famer and Eagles legend Reggie White. Barnett was the first true freshman to start along the defensive line in school history. He earned first-team All-America honors from the Associated Press as a junior in 2016 after registering a career-high 13.0 sacks with 56.0 tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, 16 hurries, and 2 forced fumbles.

With the No. 14 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles jersey selected former Tennessee defensive end Derek Barnett on Thursday night.

The 6-3, 259-pound Barnett was a three-year starter at right defensive end. In fact, Barnett was the first true freshman in Volunteers history to start along the defensive line.

After adding Derek Barnett to the front seven on Thursday, the Eagles added their second straight defensive piece on Friday by selecting Washington cornerback Sidney Jones with the 43rd-overall pick.

Jason Peters is the preferred left foot of the NFL

cheap Philadelphia Eagles jerseys

Two more Eagles will be joining Jason Peters and Fletcher Cox at the Pro Bowl in Orlando this weekend, as Jason Kelce and Darren Sproles have been added to the NFC roster.

So they entered free agency in the spring of 2009 intent on doing just that, even if the moves came at a considerable cost. They acted first in free agency, signing Stacy Andrews – the brother of right guard Shawn – from the Cincinnati Bengals. And then in April, just five days prior to that year’s draft, the Eagles struck a deal with Buffalo to acquire disgruntled left tackle Jason Peters, a converted tight end who had been to two Pro Bowls with the Bills and who wanted to be paid as one of the best at his position in the NFL.

It’s fair to say that Jason Peters, one of the premier left tackles in the entire NFL, is right at the top of the list among the MIE for 2016.

Both Kelce and Sproles are replacing Atlanta Falcons players. With the Falcons headed to Houston for Super Bowl LI, center Alex Mack and running back Devonta Freeman will not be attending the Pro Bowl. For Kelce, the Pro Bowl nod is his second as a pro, with his first appearance coming after his 2014 season. Kelce started all 16 games for the Eagles for the second-consecutive season.

He was a first alternate this year and really should have been chosen. One of the things that hurt him is he wasn’t expected to play at such a high level. Pro Bowl players usually have gaudy stats, come from winning teams, or are veterans who have been selected before and have a strong reputation. Graham fell through the cracks in those areas, but his 2016 season really put him on the map. If he can repeat this performance next season, he will make the Pro Bowl.

Additionally, restricted free agent guard Matt Tobin signed his one-year tender Monday morning. In three seasons, Tobin appeared in 30 games for the Eagles, starting 20 of them. He saw extended action as a starter in 2015 after injuries along the offensive line.

The 5-11, 199-pound Gratz was drafted in 2013 out of UConn. He played in 10 games (8 starts) as a rookie and tied for the team lead with two interceptions. He became a full-time starter in 2014 and started 13 out of the 15 games that he played in. Gratz posted a career-high 55 tackles that season. He was released by the Jaguars this past October and claimed by the Rams, with whom he played three games with.

On Friday morning, the Eagles officially tendered a one-year contract to guard Matt Tobin, who is scheduled to be a restricted free agent.

Lovato was a rookie in 2015 who landed with the Packers in a similar situation like he is in now in Philadelphia. A Middletown, New Jersey native, Lovato was signed late last year after an injury to the Philadelphia Eagles jersey china  primary long snapper Brett Goode. He was briefly with Washington earlier this season when long snapper Nick Sundberg was injured.

The Eagles signed two more players to reserve/future contracts on Wednesday – guard Josh LeRibeus and wide receiver Dom Williams.

The 6-2, 310-pound LeRibeus has 12 games of NFL starting experience under his belt. The former third-round pick of the Washington Redskins out of SMU in 2012 played five games at guard in his rookie season including the regular season finale when Alfred Morris rushed for a career-high 200 yards.

In 2015, LeRibeus was moved to center and started 11 games when Kory Lichtensteiger was sidelined with a neck injury. He was in the starting lineup for the team’s four-game win streak at the end of the season when Washington captured the NFC East crown.

The Eagles also have Josh Andrews, a guard/center

On Tuesday afternoon, linebacker Stephen Tulloch reunited with the man who had him drafted 10 years ago.

“The Tennessee Titans were about to draft a guy from another school, so Coach (Jim) Schwartz goes into (Titans head coach Jeff) Fisher’s office and shows him tape of my highlights in college and changed Coach Fisher’s mind,” Tulloch said. “I was the 116th pick in the 2006 draft and the rest is history.”

Tulloch and Schwartz prepare for their third stint together. Schwartz spent three years as his defensive coordinator in Tennessee from 2006-08, and three as Tulloch’s head coach Detroit Lions from 2011-13. When Tulloch got the call from the Eagles, he was ready to go to work and play the game he’s loved since he was a 5-year-old.

After linebacker Joe Walker was lost for the season with an ACL injury, it was clear the Eagles were going to need some additional help at the linebacker position. That’s why it was no surprise to anyone, including the players currently in the locker room, when head coach Doug Pederson announced the team had agreed to terms with veteran Stephen Tulloch on Monday.

Welcome back, Rasheed Bailey. The local kid who had such a strong 2015 preseason for the Eagles is back after seeing some time in Jacksonville and then San Diego, where he suffered a preseason injury last year and was waived.

The Eagles know enough about Bailey, who adds to the competition at wide receiver.

“He is a guy that has route skill, a guy that has ball skills, a guy that we’re excited to have back,” Douglas said.

Quarterback Matt Barkley replaced Mark Sanchez and hit rookie wide receiver Rasheed Bailey on a pair of consecutive passes of 25 yards to put the Eagles in position for a 35-yard field goal from Cody Parkey.Nike Eagles #71 Jason Peters Midnight Green Name & Number Pullover NFL Hoodie

It’s certainly possible that the Eagles will add some ammunition to the offensive line in the offseason, either in free agency or in the draft, bolstering depth and increasing competition. Seumalo figures to Philadelphia Eagles jerseys push for playing time at either guard or center in 2017 and Vaitai played well enough at right tackle that the Eagles think he can be a strong player on the edges of the offensive line. The Eagles also have Josh Andrews, a guard/center, and Dillon Gordon, a converted tight end from LSU with enormous athletic ability, as a project at the tackle positions.

Overall, the offensive line is in good shape. Is it a dominating line? At times this year, the Eagles have been dominating. Another year together, and  a full season with Johnson at right tackle, certainly would help the picture.

Guard/center Josh Andrews suffered a concussion on Wednesday at practice, making him unable to play on Sunday against Miami. In need of a backup center, the Eagles plan to bring back Vandervelde. To make room for Vandervelde on the roster, the Eagles released linebacker Brad Jones.

Paul Turner and David Watford are on the team’s practice squad

With their eighth and final pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Eagles once again addressed the defense, selecting Oregon linebacker Joe Walker with the 251st-overall pick. Walker rounds out a very balanced draft for the Eagles, as the team selected four offensive players and four defensive players.

Wide receiver David Watford was with the Eagles in the rookie minicamp earlier this offseason on a tryout basis. A dual-threat quarterback in college, Watford began his career at Virginia and transferred to Hampton where he threw 21 touchdown passes in 2015.

At the same time, Roseman admitted that it is “disappointing” to be spending so much time on this situation ahead of Sunday’s big NFC East clash with the New York Giants. The Eagles are “trying to build something that lasts,” Roseman said, and the organization was “comfortable” with the decision considering all of the facts that had been gathered.

Roseman added that there has been no corresponding roster move to replace Huff’s spot as of yet, but one will be made ahead of Sunday’s game. The Eagles currently have four wide receivers on the active roster: Nelson Agholor, Dorial Green-Beckham, Jordan Matthews and Bryce Treggs. Paul Turner and David Watford are on the team’s practice squad.

“It’s right there,” running back Terrell Watson said as he pointed to the football in the upper left corner of his locker that he carried into the end zone for his first NFL touchdown in the Eagles’ 27-13 victory over the Cowboys on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Watson was called up from the practice squad on Friday for his first NFL game, a moment he has prepared for his whole life. When he struggled with a learning disability at a young age, the support of his grandparents, Billy and Janice Watson, who took him in when he was only a few weeks old after his birth mother left him on their doorstep, allowed him to channel his energy into improving himself both on and off the field. A crowd of reporters hovered in a different area of the locker room inside the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday. Toward the back, in the middle of the floor, stand portable, makeshift lockers for players on the practice squad. That was where you found every recording device interested in getting to know the newest Eagle. Once practiced wrapped up, in walked Terrell Watson.

“It’s a moment you have to stop and just embrace it. It’s just an opportunity that not many people get to do this. And it was awesome. It was an awesome feeling,” Watson recalled. “You dream about moments like that sometimes. But you never know when it’s going to come and Philadelphia Eagles jersey authentic  I’m blessed enough to have an opportunity to play and have the opportunity to be called up the last game of the season and I’m happy with my end results. There’s stuff I need to work on still, but I’m happy going into the new year knowing that I know where I stand and knowing the work I need to do.”

He entered the Eagles-Cowboys matchup on offense with 14:10 remaining in the first half. His first touch was a 1-yard run up the middle. He carried the ball nine times for 28 yards. With 1:23 left in the season, Watson found the back of the end zone on another 1-yard carry. His grandparents were in attendance and able to share the unforgettable memory.

After scratching and clawing to take the lead over Detroit at 23-21, the Eagles’ offense was on the field with a chance to secure a fourth-straight win to start the season. With 2:41 left in the game and a third-and-2 situation, head coach Doug Pederson called a sweep play to the right side. Fighting for the first down, Ryan Mathewsfumbled the ball. Detroit recovered and eventually kicked the game-winning field goal.

During Friday morning’s press conference, head coach Doug Pederson gave injury updates on running back Ryan Mathews (knee), wide receiver Jordan Matthews (ankle), wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham(abdomen) and tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai (knee) ahead of this weekend’s game against Washington.

“DGB is going to be listed going into this game as questionable,” Pederson said. “Obviously, Big V will be out this game. Ryan Mathews has been a full partRyan Mathewsicipant this week in practice. Today we’re just going to back him down just a touch so we can keep him ready to go for Sunday, so he’ll be listed as questionable. And then Jordan Matthews (will be listed as) questionable with his injury as well with that ankle. But everybody else is ready to go.”

Earlier this week, Mathews and Matthews returned to practice after both missed last weekend’s game against the Bengals. While those two offensive pieces look to return, Green-Beckham and Vaitai were held from practice due to their injuries on Wednesday and Thursday. Vaitai injured his knee during the Seattle game and has not played since, while Green-Beckham was hurt in last Sunday’s matchup.

On the debut of NFL Fantasy LIVE’s Top 50 Players of 2016, running back Ryan Mathews was named as the No. 41-ranked player on Monday night.

Signed by the Eagles in 2015, Mathews had 539 yards rushing, 20 receptions for an additional 146 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns despite playing only 21 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. On Saturday morning, head coach Doug Pederson gave updates on the injury front, officially ruling out running back Ryan Mathews (knee) and tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai (knee) for Monday’s game against Green Bay.

“Big V obviously with the MCL sprain, he’s not ready to go so rule him out,” Pederson said. “And Ryan Mathews with his MCL, his right knee MCL sprain, hasn’t practiced all week and still not there. So, I’m going to go ahead and we’re going to rule him out for this game as well.”

Prior to the Eagles’ Friday practice, head coach Doug Pederson gave injury updates regarding wide receiver Bryce Treggs and defensive end Vinny Curry.

Treggs (knee), who did not practice on Thursday, will be out for Sunday’s game. Curry (knee) is still day-to-day but Pederson believes the defensive end will play against Cleveland.

The Eagles’ offense didn’t make many splashy plays during Thursday night’s 17-0 win over Pittsburgh, but perhaps the biggest highlight came from undrafted rookie Paul Turner, who hauled in a 23-yard, one-handed catch, drawing oohs and aahs from the Heinz Field crowd.

The other big newsworthy note for the Eagles is that wide receiver Nelson Agholor is inactive

cheap Eagles jerseys

In nine seasons with the Eagles, Quick totaled 6,464 receiving yards, scored 62 touchdowns and earned a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl roster five years in a row from 1983-87. A first-round pick out of N.C. State in 1982, Quick is one of the best receivers to ever don an Eagles uniform.

Now calling every Eagles game from the radio booth alongside Merrill Reese, Quick has had an up-close and personal view of Nelson Agholor, who was selected with the 20th overall pick by the Eagles in 2015, 33 years after Quick was selected with that very same 20th overall choice.

Agholor has had his struggles with consistency as an Eagle, but he’s shown flashes of explosiveness that made the Eagles so high on him. Agholor has totaled 59 receptions for 648 yards and three touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons. His numbers increased across the board from Year One to Year Two, but his production still hasn’t quite matched up to his skill level.

The other big newsworthy note for the Eagles is that wide receiver Nelson Agholor is inactive. Coach Pederson said he would make his decision after the week of work, and now Agholor is offifically inactive, meaning the Eagles will stick with four wide receivers, including rookie Paul Turner, who is making his NFL debut.

Last year at this time, it would only be a matter of days until Nelson Agholor heard his named called in the 2015 NFL Draft. The wide receiver was not in Chicago when the Eagles selected him with the No. 20 pick, instead electing to be at home with his family in Tampa. It’s a decision he is still glad he made.

With a year of experience now under his belt, which included its fair share of challenges along the way, Agholor reflected on the draft process and on his rookie season.Philadelphia Eagles jersey china

On Monday afternoon, Eagles tight end Trey Burton officially signed his one-year tender offer.

The Eagles initially extended Burton a second-round tender on March 7. What this means is that another NFL team can still offer Burton a new contract, but the Eagles would have a chance to match the contract and keep Burton on the roster. If the Eagles elected not to match, the team signing Burton would have to give the Eagles a second-round pick.

Burton, originally an undrafted free agent out of Florida in 2014, made a name for himself in his first two seasons as a special teams player. In 2016, though, Burton had a larger role on offense, catching 37 passes for 327 yards and one touchdown. He’s provided excellent depth for the Eagles at tight end, but also has provided versatility, lining up as a tight end, running back and even filling in at long snapper.

In his first two seasons, Burton’s production on the special team units hasn’t gone unnoticed. His rookie year, he recorded a blocked punt and a blocked punt touchdown return and in 2015, he finished the season with a team-high 19 special team tackles, tied for the highest regular season total by an Eagle since 2009. During the early part of Training Camp this year, however, the Eagles’ coaching staff made it clear that they’ll be attempting to utilize Burton not only on special teams, but he should expect an increased role at tight end.Eagles #22 Asante Samuel Light Green 1960 Throwback Stitched NFL Jersey

According to Walker, he and the medical staff are still working out the details of surgery, but in the meantime, the old cliché of ‘next man up’ is in effect for the Eagles. That next man is Don Cherry, an undrafted rookie out of Villanova. After a brief stint with the Chicago Bears following April’s draft, Cherry earned a workout with the Eagles and ended up signing with the team on July 24th, just one day before the first rookie practice of Training Camp.

Now in his 10th professional season (all with the same team, a list that includes only 10 active NFL skill-position players with at least 150 games of regular season experience) Celek’s been there for the peaks, catching 19 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns during a playoff run to the 2008 NFC Championship Game against Arizona. He’s been there for the valleys – seeing the Eagles go 4-12 in 2012, the team’s worst record since the 1998 campaign.

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with linebacker Nigel Bradham.

Last season, Bradham started the first 11 games of the year and compiled 57 tackles, the fourth-highest total on the team, before an injury cut his season short.

Nick Foles’ performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 31-20 Eagles win last Sunday earned him praise and accolades that extended beyond Philadelphia. On the heels of going 22-of-31 for 296 yards and three touchdowns, while adding another touchdown on a four-yard rush, and putting up a 133.3 quarterback rating, he was honored as the “Air” recipient of the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week award for Week 6, as voted on by fans. Foles will start his second straight game, against the Dallas Cowboys, this Sunday at 1 PM.Men's Nike NFL Philadelphia Eagles Sideline Legend Authentic Logo Tank Top Blue

It is the second time this season that an Eagles player has been honored as a FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week. Running back LeSean McCoy won the “Ground” award following his 31-carry, 184-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Washington Redskins in a Week 1 victory.

The award is also a major benefit to local communities, as FedEx made a $2,000 donation in Foles’ name to the Philadelphia local area office of Junior Achievement, which aims to help U.S. small business development by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

By virtue of Saturday’s NFL Divisional Round results at least one Pro Bowl quarterback is going to be in the Super Bowl. That means Foles, as the first alternate, will get the opportunity to take his place. Not bad for someone who wasn’t even a starter in Week 1.

Foles led the league with a 119.2 passer rating, which was the third-highest in NFL history. Foles threw 27 touchdown passes against just two interceptions for the greatest touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history.

He started the last eight games of the season (10 total) and led the Eagles to wins in seven of those contests to help the team earn the NFC East title for the first time since 2010. Foles tied an NFL record with seven touchdown passes in the win at Oakland on November 3. Foles’ 152.8 passer rating for the month of November was the highest in any calendar month in NFL history.

Bradham, 26, joins the Philadelphia Eagles jerseys after spending the last four seasons with the Buffalo Bills where he played in 57 games with 38 starts and compiled 242 tackles (154 solo), 3.5 sacks, 13 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception. Originally a fourth-round selection of the Bills in the 2012 NFL Draft, Bradham started 11 games as a rookie and totaled 47 tackles in his first campaign.
In 2014, while playing under current Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Bradham started 14 games and racked up a career-high 100 tackles — the second-highest total on the team — while also recording 2.5 sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and seven pass breakups.

With Wentz having gained a full season of experience as a rookie and now coming into Year 2 way ahead of the game from a maturity standpoint and a full comprehension of the scheme, and now that he has some established NFL weapons outside with Jeffery and Smith, it’s fair to expect a big leap up for the offense.

That’s the thinking. That’s the hope. And Pederson feels that way, even as he approaches the next steps with the usual coaching caution.

“I think we’re going to be much improved, but we have to see how it goes,” he said. “We have to stay healthy and the ball has to bounce our way, but, yeah, I’m excited to work with these guys and get them out there and see what we have.”

Free agency has slowed to a trickle, but the Eagles are still likely to add some pieces between now and the draft in late April. Pederson would not get specific on what’s happening next, or who the Eagles might be targeting in the draft, but it’s safe to say the level of optimism is high.
